March 6, 2003
This conversation took place on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 between me and two 15-16 year olds.
Dennis: Walks in on conversation...
Rudy*: I hate that I have the same birthday as Shaquille O'Neal. I don't like the way he plays, the way he shoots, or the team he plays for.
Dennis: Why does it matter that you have the same birthday? Just because you have the same birthday as someone, that doesn't mean you have to like what they do. I have the same birthday as Bob Dylan.
Rudy: Who's that?
Dennis: Rolls eyes and walks away.
Rudy: Well, I don't listen to country music.
Dennis: Jaw drops while mind fills with amazement and disgust.
Mario: Dummy, he's a basketball player.
* Names have been changed to protect the ignorant
What's wrong with today's youth? Maybe adding all of these extra high school graduation requirements really is a step in the right direction.
For your information, Bob Dylan is a musician who is probably mostly recognized as a folk guitarist.
